Your bedroom..... A little piece of Heaven

Your bedroom..... A little piece of Heaven

Your bedroom is indeed, your little piece of Heaven and you should do everything you can to keep this your very special room in which you live, love and laugh. This may sound pretentious mumbling but when you keep this room special, you are inviting sleep into your world.

You should open the door to your special room and should sigh a sigh of relief, relief that the day is done and now it is your time to slumber. You should love this room and look forward to being in it, your bed should be sumptuous and inviting..... You should want to jump into it! Treat it like it is a bed fit for royalty and you shall feel like royalty when you are in it. All too often, people do not truly appreciate the power of the bedroom..... It's innate ability to welcome you into the arms of sleep, there should be no television, there should be no clutter and there should certainly be no last minute reading for tomorrow's meeting!

It is your haven, your escape and you should keep it that way, time to reflect and unwind, time to sleep.

The bed linen you choose is extremely important in creating this result... it should always be 100% cotton with Egyptian cotton being the best in the world. The fibres found in this cotton are longer in length than other cottons found in other countries; this makes them smoother, finer and more luxurious. This cotton is extremely durable and will get softer with washing, providing you with many years of beautiful silky sheets to sleep under. Cotton is a natural product and so, like the natural duvets, will work with your body in creating the perfect climate for you to sleep in. It allows your body to breathe and will absorb any of the body's natural moisture, keeping you warm during those cold winter nights and cool during the heat of summer.

Why Egyptian cotton is the finest

Why Egyptian cotton is the finest

Egyptian cotton is known as the best in the world. This is due to the climate and soil in Egypt which lends itself perfectly to the production of strong and healthy cotton crops. The fibres within the cotton bud are longer and stronger; this produces a very fine yarn as there are less fine hairs sticking out once spun. When woven, the yarn produces a finer and more durable luxury fabric which is then stitched to bring you the perfect bed linen.

100% cotton bed linen is the best to sleep under due to its natural properties. The fibres allow your body to breathe while you sleep. Any moisture is absorbed by the cotton ensuring that your body remains moisture free, helping to keep your temperature constant throughout the night. One of the main reasons that people sleep poorly is due to the fact that temperature changes throughout the night can disturb our sleeping causing us to stir and pull the duvet up or to kick it off. By choosing to use cotton bed linen you are helping to reduce this disturbance.

Easy care bed linen may seem to be the best option in today's busy world but they are generally 50% cotton and 50% polyester, they are marketed as having the best of both worlds - the natural properties of cotton along with the durability of polyester. The main reason that the polyester is there is to help the cotton within the weave stay in place during the washing and drying process. Cotton will crease whereas polyester is not easily affected by the motion and the heat. By combining the two fibres together an 'easy care' fabric is produced. The reality is that polyester is a man made fibre and does not have the properties of natural cotton, it makes the body sweat and the moisture can not be absorbed by this fibre. Polyester can also make bed linen feel scratchy and is not as soft on the skin. Cotton is durable enough on its own and does not need the properties of polyester to strengthen it.

Pilling is also a problem with poly/cotton mixes, as cotton will naturally shed some of its fibres over time, they fall off and the fabric becomes silkier and softer as a result - providing you with perfect bed linen for many years. When the fibres shed but are combined with polyester, the polyester will hold onto the fibres which will then create little balls on the bed linen know as pilling. This is enhanced if the sleeper is wearing man made fibre night wear. The result is uncomfortable and unsightly bed linen which will need to be replaced years before your cotton bed linen.

The advantages of 100% cotton bed linen are numerous, especially Egyptian cotton. We have carefully selected only the finest Egyptian cotton from a company who have specialised in this area for many years, it is the only bed linen that we sell because we know the difference that it makes and we do not compromise on comfort when it comes to sleep. Elysha Charles strongly recommend that this bed linen is used with all of our goose down duvets and pillows, mattress toppers and memory foam mattresses. It is the combination of everything together that will provide you with that much needed sleep and make your bed irresistible each evening.

What is percale?

What is percale?

Percale is the term used for any fabric which has over 180 thread count. Thread count is the amount of thread used, both horizontal and vertical, within a square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the denser the fabric is resulting in more luxurious, crisper and more durable fabric.

Air gets trapped both in-between the weave structure and the scales on the cotton fibre (like a hair shaft), this collection of air is what allows the body to breathe and work with your body's temperature.

High count Egyptian cotton bed linen will feel crisp at first but will soften slightly as it is washed creating wonderfully silky sheets with a purely decadent feel.

Elysha Charles are proud to offer you a collection of Egyptian cotton bed linen from 200 count through to 800 count.
